Members
The HYFC comprises of 10 members. These members have monthly board meetings. The members are commited to serving the youth of the City of Hilliard. Each member has a bio below that shows their background.
Brian Pettit
Brian has worked with youth and their families for the past 16 years. For the past 5 years, he has worked with students across Hilliard and beyond in the capacity of Student Pastor at Northwest Bible Church. One of his favorite expressions of asset building in the lives of students happens as the students he leads work together on mission projects. This year, their group will be leading a week long day program for children that come from homeless families in the Holland, MI area. These teenagers who plan, build, and conduct this program truly see that their lives matter, that their lives have a sense of purpose.
Steve Hiller
Steve Hiller has enjoyed working with young kids, teens, adults and families for over 15yrs. With previous experience in the teaching field and in his current capacity as the Youth & Family Director of the Hilliard/Ray Patch Family YMCA, Steve has had many opportunities to witness and experience the powerful benefits of engaging people in the Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets. As a member of the Hilliard Youth & Family Commission, he endeavors to build a strong foundation in everyone enriched with developmental assets and a greater sense of creating successful individuals, families and communities.
Jill Smock
Jill is the Director of Youth to Youth International, a youth leadership/drug prevention program based here in Franklin County. She truly believes in the power of youth to make a positive difference in their schools and community. Because of her professional background with developmental assets and her roots in Hilliard, Jill was appointed to the inaugural Hilliard Youth and Family Commission (HYFC) in 2001. One of her favorite things with the Commission is being one of the adult coordinators (Asset #3) of the Hilliard Youth Council. Allowing Hilliard youth to have a voice in directing and planning projects in the community (Assets #7, 8, 32 & 39) is just one of the ways HYFC puts assets into action! Jill is also a parent of two Hilliard students, and one Hilliard Davidson graduate!
